Training organised

KATHMANDU: Fifty students from 20 schools participated in a six-day training on computer skill and Japanese language held from July 22 to 27 in Himalayan White House International College, a statement issued here on Friday said. Suchitra Tuldadhar of Xavier International has been judged the best participant of the training and will be on a two-week educational tour to Japan. The training was jointly organised by Schoolnet Japan and Himalayan WhiteHouse International College. — HNS

Property stolen

KATHMANDU: A group of unidentified persons on Thursday afternoon made away with property worth Rs 165,000 from the house of Usha Maskey at Maitedevi, police said on Friday. According to the police, the thieves took away Rs 4,000 in cash, 15 tolas of gold, 4 tolas of silver, one digital camera and one wrist watch from the house. There was nobody in the house when the incident occurred. — HNS

Role of media stressed

KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Pradip Kumar Gyawali has said the role of the media is very important to spread the glory of Nepal in international arena to boost tourism sector. Inaugurating a seminar on ‘’skill development orientation on tourism journalism’’ here on Friday, Minister Gyawali said that the suggestions of the journalists will be fruitful for the tourism master plan. — RSS

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu University School of Management on Friday published the results of the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) August 2004 Group. Similarly, the KU also published the results of Bachelor’s in Arts Social Works, 1st Year, 2nd Semester, 2nd Year, 2nd Semester and 3rd Year, 2nd Semester examinations conducted in the month of June by the School of Arts. — RSS

Violence denounced

KATHMANDU: Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Urmila Aryal has claimed that Nepal has raised the voice against children and child marriage in a Regional Forum. Talking to Journalists at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) on return after taking part in a Minister Level Meeting of the SAARC countries on ‘’Violence against children and early child marriage’’ that concluded on Wednesday, Minister Aryal said that she had put forth Nepal’s view that it was not enough making promises. — RSS
