Shopkeepers held

KATHMANDU: Shopkeepers Madan Mahaseth, of Old Baneswor, and Mukesh Agrawal, of Tahachal, KMC-13, were arrested from Tahachal on Monday for producing and selling spurious Solo chocolates in the market, police said. Ninety-one packets of chocolate were found from their possession.— HNS

Robber caught

KATHMANDU: Ram Kumar Rai (45), of Chilaune VDC-1 of Udayapur, was arrested from Balaju Chakrapath on Monday for stealing goods worth Rs 149,710 from the house of Bam Bahadur Jugajali of Gongabu VDC-7, Kathmandu. Police arrested Rai while he was taking the stolen goods away in a rickshaw, said SP Deepak Ranjit. Accomplice of Rai, Ashok Chhetri (22), is still at large. — HNS

KATHMANDU: A delegation from Pyuthan district called on Minister for Physical Planning and Works, Gopal Man Shrestha, and asked him to provide funds for construction of the Bhalubang-Pyuthan Road. — RSS

Two held with pistol

KATHMANDU: Suraj Gautam, a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City -9, and Nischal Thapa, of Samakhushi, were arrested on Monday and a countrymade pistol and a bullet of .303 rifle seized from their possession. The police said the pistol was hidden in a bag. Thapa told police that the pistol belonged to his friend Prateek Dahal of Biratnagar, who had asked him to keep it for a few days. Police are grilling Gautam and Thapa to check whether they are involved in robbery. — HNS

Journos meet Oli

KATHMANDU: A delegation led by chairman of the South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) Imtiyaz Alam called on Deputy Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the Foreign Ministry, Shitalniwas, on Tuesday. Oli expressed gratitude to the SAFMA for providing support to the pro-democracy movement. Members of the delegation hoped there would be full press freedom in Nepal. — RSS
