Produce Bagale: SC

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Sunday ordered the police headquarters and Inspector General of Police, Shyam Bhakta Thapa, to produce the recently sacked sub-inspector Hom Bahadur Bagale on Tuesday to test his detention. The order was issued by a single bench of Justice Rajendra Prasad Koirala following today’s hearing.— HNS

6 held on rape charges

Kathmandu: The Gaushala Ward Police Office has taken six persons in custody for questioning in connection with the rape of a 12-year-old girl at Siphal on Friday night, Parbati Thapa, Superintendent of Police at the Women and Children section of the police headquarters, said. —HNS

Revised KMC budget

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) announced its revised budget of Rs 1.52 billion for the current fiscal year (2005-06). Mayor Raja Ram Shrestha presented the budget at KMC’s 12th City Council on March 25. Rs 1.12 billion has been set aside for infrastructure development and other development ventures; 5.68 per cent for capital expenditure and 7.57 per cent has been allocated for salary and benefits. —HNS
