KATHMANDU: Additional Inspector General of Police Dr Govinda Thapa, Deputy Inspector Generals of Police Kumar Koirala, Gyanendra Bikram Mahat, Sher Bahadur Shah and Him Bahadur Gurung got mandatory retirement on Wednesday. AIG Rabikanta Aryal got mandatory retirement three months ago. — HNS
KTV moves court
KATHMANDU: The Kantipur Television (KTV) Private Limited on Wednesday filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court seeking its order to the government to allow the station to launch satellite broadcasting. Manager of the KTV Ganesh Kumar Agrawal, who filed the petition, claimed the government, a few weeks ago, had decided not to allow the KTV to launch satellite broadcasting. — HNS
Journalism training
KATHMANDU: With the objective of producing journalists from indigenous communities, the Association of Nepalese Indigenous Nationalities Journalists (ANIJ) launched a four-month-long journalism training for the Janajati youths on Wednesday. Addressing the inaugural function organised at the ANIJ hall, Anamnagar, Pramod Tandukar, communication officer of the JEP, said: “The Janajati Empowerment Project (JEP) will provide funds for the training and bring the Janajati journalists to the mainstream media.” ANIJ president Khim Ghale said the training was the first effort made by the ANIJ to produce skilled journalists from the Janajati community. Some youths people are taking part in the training. — HNS
