Annapurna Helping Hands
KATHMANDU: Tibetan Women's Welfare Group on Wednesday provided a sum of Rs 1.5 lakhs to the humanitarian campaign 'Annapurna Helping Hands' being run by Annapurna Post daily to provide relief to the people of the diarrhoea hit districts of mid and far-western regions. Thakchoe, a TWWG member, handed over a cheque of the amount to Jiwendra Simkhada, editor of Annapurna Post. On the occasion, Thakchoe said the continued help and affection extended by Nepalis to Tibetan exiles for the past 50 years had encouraged them to assist the people of the remote areas. Simkhada thanked for their support and informed that the campaign had collected around Rs 14 lakh. — HNS
Killer car-driver's custody extended
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu District Court on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of Biplab Man Singh Dangol, the car driver who hit and killed six pedestrians in Bhotahiti on August 6, by seven days. The police had produced him in the KDC, seeking more time to further investigate the accident. — HNS
