171 DSPs transferred

Kathmandu: The Home Ministry on Saturday transferred and created new postings for 171 DSPs. Police headquarters published a notice in this regard on Friday. Police headquarters said those who were working in remote areas have been transferred to urban areas and those working in urban areas have been transferred to remote areas. — HNS

Media role urged

KATHMANDU: Speaker Tara Nath Ranabhat said positive thinking could only bring about changes in the Nepali society. At a talk programme organised by Manokranti Practitioner Association on Saturday, Ranabhat said media should play an important role for enhancing positive mentality. He said negative attitudes are being increased among the Nepalese youths due to Nepalese media which only focuses on destruction. He also released the book Manokranti Digdarshan written by Dr Yogi Bikashananda. — RSS

Poll publicity

BHAKTAPUR: The Election Commission’s Office of Bhaktapur has started publicity about the elections in two municipalities of the district. An information desk has been set up at the Election Officer’s Office for providing information, said Election Officer Basantaraj Bhattarai. CDO and Election Officer Bhattarai said people should take part in the elections and make reforms about what the people want. He said people will be provided full security during the voting. — RSS

Meet on quake held

KATHMANDU: Speakers at a programme organised here on Saturday stressed on the need to strengthen the communities to minimise earthquake risks. Speaking at a training organised by the Kathmandu Metropolis-17 to mark the Earthquake Safety Day-2006, the speakers pointed out the need for the government, organisations concerned and the civil society to run public awareness programmes. Secretary at the Home Ministry Bal Krishna Prasain said the government is preparing a strategy on natural calamity and the Ministry is working out ways to minimise the risk and impact of calamities. — RSS
