Three held with musk
KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Forest Office has arrested three men in possession of illegal musk on Friday. Assistant Forest Officer, Chandra Man Dangol, told this daily that Sonam Tamang of Ghorle VDC, Min Bahadhur Taman of Ramchhe VDC and Sonam Tamang of Ramchhe VDC, all in Rasua district, had been arrested in possession of musk that the three had been trying to smuggle out of the country, on Thursday. “They were arrested on their way to Nepal Tar from Balaju,” he said. — HNS
Concept paper
KATHMANDU: The Property Evaluation Concept paper Drafting Committee submitted its report to Secretary at the Ministry of Land Reforms and Management on Friday. The report has presented recommendations on long-term plan pertaining to the evaluation process of property, its significance and implications, systems and bases of evaluation of property by different bodies, comparative market value of different organisations for property evaluation, working policy to be adopted for the evaluation of property and its effective implementation, it is said. — RSS
School inaugurated
Lalitpur: Minister for Education and Sports Radha Krishna Mainali today inaugurated the earthquake-resistant building of Suryodaya Bal Bikas Primary School at Imadole. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony on the school premises, minister Mainali said, “The construction of an earthquake-resistant building in this VDC will serve to inform all the community members of the latest earthquake technology,” adding, the media had an important role in creating awarness on earthquakes. Amod Mani Dixit, executive director of National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET) said, “ The school house will be a model for the community while constructing new buildings.” —HNS
Child labour
Kathmandu: The representatives of the non-governmental organisations working for the eradication of child labour have expressed the view that all the children who have been deprived of school education should not be placed in the category of “child workers”. The participants an interaction programme jointly organised here yesterday by the Save the Children, Japan and ‘“Voice of Children,” a magazine, stressed that there should be coordination among the concerned organisations while running programmes for eradication of child labour. —RSS
Baha Puja today
Kathmandu : Baha Puja will be organised in Kathmandu on Saturday wishing for peace in the country, after a quarter of a century. Buddhist stupas in more than 200 Bahals will be worshipped in the Baha Puja (worship) to be performed on the first day of the month of Magh. The “Baha (Buddha) Puja for Peace’’ to be organised by the Lyayamha Dhime Pucha is expected to be participated in by tens of thousands of devotees of the Bahals. —RSS
Employment quota
KATHMANDU: The government has provided reservation in Foreign Employment Companies to women, indigenous people, dalits and conflict-hit people in 10 per cent seats of foreign employment. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Labour and Transport Management, no special facilities are being provided to these groups besides the reservation. — RSS
