Rally on cleaner

Kathmandu: The Lions Club and Leo Club of Balaju today jointly organised a cycle rally with a slogan 'Save fuel, keep the environment clean' to raise awareness on the increasing pollution in the Valley. The rally started from Basantapur Durbar Square and went through different thoroughfares of the city before converting into a mass meeting. According to a press release issued by the two clubs, the rally aimed at promoting the use of bicycles and eco-friendly vehicles in the Valley as vehicles run by fuel posed serious threat to the environment and public health. Chief guest of the programme Ganesh Shah, Minister for Science, Technology and Environment, thanked the organisers for their initiative to raise awareness on the negative impact of the increasing pollution and promoting eco-friendly solutions. All the participants of the rally were handed out certificates at the programme. —THT Online
