Laxmi Puja observed

Kathmandu:

People observed Laxmi puja on Tuesday by cleaning up their homes and decorating their doors and windows with marigold and godavari flowers. In the morning, cows were worshipped and offered food. Wednesday, the fourth day of the Tihar festival, will mark the beginning of Nepal Sambat 1126. Oxen are also worshipped. — HNS

Fire breaks out

BHAKTAPUR:

A fire broke out in a clothes shop located on the ground floor of a house in Golmani-7, Bhaktapur, on Tuesday, the police said, adding they had yet to find out the cause of the fire. — HNS

3 hooligans caught

Kathmandu:

The Valley Police today arrested three persons for breaking into the residence of Father MP Coyne (SJ) of St Xavier’s College, in Maitighar, Kathmandu, yesterday. A police inspector, Brikh Bahadur Rawal, identified the three as Prakash Khadka, Jayandra Lama and Bikash Singh. Police reached the spot when the priest reported the incident. Prakash and Jayandra were injured when a police constable, Dhan Bahadur Gurung, opened fire. —HNS
