Thieves nabbed
KATHMANDU: City police on Saturday arrested two persons for stealing 10 kilogrammes of copper wire. Police said that local residents caught the two pilferers while they were trying to conceal the copper wire in a shrub at Balkhu and handed them over to the police. One of the arrested has been identified as Kamansingh Syang from Rautahat. — HNS
King graces function
KATHMANDU: King Gyanendra on Saturday graced a dinner hosted in honour of his 59th birthday at the King Tribhuwan Army Officer’s Club at the Royal Nepalese Army headquarters.
Queen Komal accompanied the King on the occasion. The King also granted a collective audience to all the invitees who attended. On the occasion, the members of the royal family were also present. The Royal Nepalese Army’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Pyar Jung Thapa felicitated the King on the occasion. Also present at the dinner were ministers, heads of constitutional bodies, ambassadors of foreign diplomatic missions and other distinguished personalities. — RSS
