Candidacy withdrawn

KATHMANDU: Ten independent candidates who had filed candidacy for the by-election in vacant CA seats have withdrawn their candidacy. Prabhakar Karki from Morang-7, Shiv Dayal Yadav, Tetar Yadav, Sadhu Yadav and Shyam Kishor Yadav from Dhanusha-5, Ananda Subedi from Kaski-1, Kul Bahadur Khatri, Man Bahadur Batha Magar and Surendra Thapa Gharti form Rolpa-2 and Padma Raj Panta from constituency 4 of Kanchanpur withdrew their candidacy, according to the Election Commission. — RSS

NWC’s demand

KATHMANDU: The National Women’s Commission has called for amendment to the ordinances on the Person Disappearance (Crime and Punishment) Commission and Ordinance on Truth and Reconciliation Commission so as to ensure 33 per cent women’s representation in the commissions. At a programme organised here on Thursday, the NWC presented its version of amendment, which also calls for stronger punishment for crimes against pregnant and disabled persons. — RSS
