KATHMANDU: Police on Tuesday detained former minister Jay Prakash Gupta from his residence. Plainclothes policemen took him into a police van at around 6:30 pm from his residence Sinamangal in Kathmandu, family sources said. — HNS

Cop killed in mishap

KATHMANDU: Sub-Inspector of Police Khagendra Jaisi was killed by a van at Lalitpur on Tuesday. Sources said a vehicle reportedly belonging to the security personnel rammed into Jaisi. He was declared dead at Birendra Army Hospital on arrival. — HNS

Three held for murder

Lalitpur: Lalitpur sub-branch of the Valley Crime Investigation Branch on Monday arrested three persons on charge of murder. Man Bahadur Tamang, Yam Bahadur Tamang and Roshan Phujel allegedly killed Tara Karki at Balkhu on April 13. — HNS

Thapa bags Yugkabi prize

KATHMANDU: Yugkabi Siddhicharan Prize for the year 2061 BS is to be awarded to poet and critic professor Dr Mohan Himansu Thapa. The prize, which carries a purse of Rs 50,000, is awarded to Thapa for his contribution to Nepali poetry and criticism. — RSS
