Princess graces eye camp:
KATHMANDU: Princess Shitasma on Saturday inaugurated an eye camp organised jointly by the Queen Aishwarya Health Assistance Fund and the Nepal Eye Hospital to mark the 55th birthday of Queen Komal. Speaking at the occasion, Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Durga Shrestha said the government is committed to work for the uplift of the weaker classes of society. Established some 30 years ago, the fund has been providing training to various mother’s groups of rural areas of different districts. It is also providing free health treatment to patients who cannot afford it. — RSS
127 disabled get ID cards:
BHAKTAPUR: The District Administration Office of Bhaktapur has distributed disability identity cards to 127 physically disabled persons, 45 of which are women, so far. Those obtaining the cards include 64 physically impaired, 43 deaf, 10 mentally impaired and 10 visually impaired persons. Disabled provided identity cards are given government provisioned services and facilities on education, health, transport, employment and others. — RSS
Foundation of bridge laid:
BHAKTAPUR: Raj Parishad member Madan Krishna Hada laid the foundation stone of the Kalhacha bridge at Ward-12 of Bhaktapur municipality on Saturday. The bridge will be constructed with financial assistance from Bhaktapur municipality and active participation of the local people. The cost has been estimated at Rs 325,251. Hada said sustainable development that served a greater number of people was the need of the day and stressed on the need of public participation in development works. — RSS
Buddhists hold peace rally:
KATHMANDU: A peace rally was organised here on Friday by Buddhists for freedom from murder, violence and terror. The rally, which started with a lama band from the Nyanang Fengeling monastery at Swoyambhu, went around the city and converged into a talk programme at the monastery. — RSS
