‘Increase strength of Armed Police Force’

KATHMANDU: Stating that its current strength is incapable of handling increasing workload, the Armed Police Force has demanded that its strength be increased to 50,000 from the existing 35,000.

The APF made the request when members of the State Affairs Committee of the Parliament visited its headquarters in Halchok on Thursday, said the SAC Chairman Dil Bahadur Gharti.

“The Armed Police Force is an important paramilitary force constituted to provide security on the country’s border. It has also been contributing to rescue efforts.

The SAC also feels the need to increase strength of the APF. The panel will discuss the issue and take a decision,” said Gharti..
