India pledges financial assistance worth Rs 82.8m

Kathmandu, September 11

India has pledged financial assistance of Rs 82.8 million for the construction of Chhahari Single Women Reintegration Centre at Budhanilkantha Municipality-7 and for Managla Devi Singh Memorial Girls Hostel Building for Padma Kanya Higher Secondary School, Dillibazar, in Kathmandu.

Memoranda of Understanding were signed for construction of a single women reintegration centre and a hostel for girls in Kathmandu as part of India-Nepal Cooperation Programme of India on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the Embassy of India in Nepal, the Single Women Reintegration Centre is being constructed by District Development Committee Kathmandu with India’s financial support of Rs 44.2 for Women for Human Right.

WHR, which was established in 1994, has been working for the rehabilitation and reintegration of conflict-affected, vulnerable women and is dedicated towards making its deprived dependent members,empowered independent women.

Similarly, India pledged to provide Rs 38.6 million to construct Managla Devi Singh Memorial Girls Hostel. The construction of the hostel building will help reduce drop-out rate among girl students, read the statement.
