India pledges Rs 35m grant assistance for two educational institutions

KATHMANDU: The Government of India pledged grant assistance of Rs 35 million for the development of infrastructure of two educational institutions of Dadeldhura and Tanahun districts.

The Indian Embassy, District Development Committees and beneficiary organisations concerned signed separate Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) to the effect here today.

As per the MoU, the Embassy will provide Rs 23.9 million to Shree Durga Higher Secondary School, Alital, Dadeldhura for construction of school buildings. The amount will also be spent for building separate toilets for girls and boys, fencing wall and managing furniture, computers and printers. Currently, more than 850 students are studying in the school.

Similarly, Rs 10.8 million has been given to Aadikabi Bhanubakta Multiple Campus, Damauli, Tanahun for the construction of two-storeyed library building, making furniture, installing Closed Circuit Television and for other stationery items.

The campus has been running classes till Bachelor's degree in Humanities, Management and Education streams, and Master's degree in Humanities.

Altogether 1,400 students are studying in the educational facility. "The assistance will also help the campus collect and store invaluable books not only for the students but also for the people of Tanahun and adjoining districts," said a press statement issued by the Embassy.

The statement also added that the assistance will help in creating the requisite infrastructure for these educational institutions and enable them to upgrade their capacity in keeping with their educational standards and increasing number of students.
