KATHMANDU, JANUARY 29

India has provided the second tranche of election-related assistance to Nepal, with over 250 vehicles handed over to support preparations for the upcoming elections.

The handover ceremony took place at the Ministry of Finance in Kathmandu, attended by Nepal's Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal and Charge d'affaires a.i. of India, Dr. Rakesh Pandey.

Speaking at the event, Finance Minister Khanal highlighted the longstanding cooperation and friendly ties between India and Nepal, thanking the Government and people of India for the supplies and acknowledging their significance in preparations for upcoming elections.

The first tranche of India's election-related assistance was delivered to Nepal on January 20, 2026, and additional batches are expected in the coming weeks, according to the press release issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

The ongoing cooperation and support from the Indian side is not only an apt reflection of the multi-faceted and multi-sectoral development partnership that exists between both countries, but also symbolizes the deep mutual trust and friendship between the people of India and Nepal, the embassy said.
