KATHMANDU, APRIL 2

Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed on Thursday for the implementation of seven High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal with grant assistance from the Government of India.

The agreements were signed between the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration and project implementing agencies of the Government of Nepal.

The projects, with a total estimated cost of Rs 473 million, will be carried out in the education, health and agriculture sectors across various provinces.

According to the press statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, the projects include the construction of cold storage facilities in Nawalpur and Tehrathum, school buildings and related infrastructure in Mustang, Kailali, Dolpa and Banke, and a birthing centre in Rautahat.

The projects will be implemented through local governments, including municipalities and rural municipalities.

Since 2003, the Government of India has undertaken 598 such projects in Nepal, of which 506 have already been completed across sectors such as health, education, agriculture, drinking water, sanitation and connectivity. The remaining projects are at various stages of implementation.

The Embassy said the initiative reflects continued cooperation between Nepal and India and supports Nepal's efforts to strengthen infrastructure and promote development in priority sectors.
