Swaraj arrives; says visiting to meet friends and not here with any agenda
KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs of India, Sushma Swaraj has arrived in the capital at 4 pm today for a two-day visit. State Finance Minister Uday Shumsher Rana received Swaraj at the airport.
Talking to media at the airport, Swaraj said that she is not visiting the Nepali capital with any agenda but rather came to meet her friends.
The Indian Foreign Minister has headed straight to Soaltee Crowne Plaza after landing, where she will be residing during her visit, and conduct some important political meetings then after.
Accompanying the Minister are the newly appointed Foreign Secretary Vijay Keshav Gokhle, Spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs Ravish Kumar, and other high-ranking officials.
Swaraj flew to Kathmandu in an Indian Air-Force special flight.
The Indian External Affairs Minister is expected to begin her political meetings starting with CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli. UML chair Oli is hosting a dinner in honour of the visiting minister later today.
Swaraj will call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday.
She is scheduled to return on Friday.
The visit is being speculated with much interest by the Nepali and Indian media, analysts and citizens alike.
