KATHMANDU, APRIL 12
Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality of Dhading district has been declared the first hygienic local level in the country.
The rural municipality made the announcement after achieving key milestones under the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution of Nepal and implementing strategic sanitation plans.
On Sunday, Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad Aryal formally declared Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality as the country's first hygienic local level during a programme held in Dhola within the municipality.
On the occasion, Speaker Aryal praised the local government for its efforts to promote sanitation and public hygiene through positive behavioural change in the community.
Chairman of the rural municipality, Yamnath Danai, said the status was achieved after meeting required standards of personal and public hygiene, ensuring access to safe drinking water, and fulfilling other key indicators.
"Our goal is to establish a culture of hygiene in citizens' daily lives and behaviour," Chairman Danai said.
