Indian FS Rao calls on PM

KATHMANDU: Visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao called on Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal along with Indian ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood at the PM's residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday morning.

Rao inquired about the status of the ongoing peace and the constitution drafting process, widening discontent among the parties and degrading security situation of the country mainly in the Terai regions. In reply the PM said the government had implemented the security plan in the country to resolve the deteriorating security situation.

According to PM's foreign advisor Rajan Bhattarai, the meeting basically dwelt on the progress on a 34-point agreement signed during the PM's maiden trip to India.

Rao is scheduled to meet Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, Home Minister Bhim Rawal and Chief of Army Staff Chhatra Man Singh Gurung among others before she leaves for India later today.
