Indian nationals arrested with smuggled gold
KATHMANDU: The metropolitan police airport security office has arrested five Indian nationals with 3.36 kilograms of smuggled gold.
Ishwar Das, Avatar Singh, Amrit Pal Singh, Harmindar Singh and Rijwan Ansari were arrested after they landed at Tribhuvan International Airport via Thai Airways flight from Bangkok, Thailand on Monday.
They had distributed the yellow metal among themselves and concealed it in their suitcases, according to SP Dinesh Raj Mainali of the TIA police.
As per current market price, the gold is worth Rs 14.7 million. All the arrestees have been handed over to the TIA customs office for necessary action.
