IGP warns erring cops of action

Kathmandu, May 5

Inspector General of Police Prakash Aryal today directed the police force to be prepared to deal with any eventuality without being carried away.

Addressing senior police officers deployed for election security in Kathmandu Valley, he said, “Nepal Police has now been facing such an unimaginable situation that it never came across in its history. I strongly urge you to be cautious to any comment about it and to carry out your duties and responsibilities with honesty, integrity and due diligence to make the local level elections slated for May 14 and June 14 a success.”

At the programme organised at the Bhrikutimandap-based Police Club, IGP Aryal directed the cops to see the elections as an opportunity to enhance the image of Nepal Police by creating an environment in which people could exercise their franchise in a free, fair and peaceful manner. He also expressed his confidence that police employees would maintain law and order.

“Don’t believe the rumour doing rounds about the security body and discharge your duties in a responsible manner,” he directed. IGP Aryal also warned of action against any one who acts in contravention of the organisation’s policies and the existing laws.
