Inter-task force meeting unlikely today

KATHMANDU: A meeting between task forces of the major three parties and the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front, scheduled for this afternoon, could not be held, apparently due to busy schedules of its members.

Nepali Congress leader and a member of the task force representing NC, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist, Mahesh Acharya, said the meeting could not be held on time as representatives of the parties in the government cited busy schedules.

Deputy Prime Minister, also the UML Vice-Chairman, Bhim Bahadur Rawal and UCPN-Maoist General Secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara represent the ruling coalition in the task force.

A UDMF task force member, Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Co-Chairman, Rajendra Shrestha said the meeting could not be held as any member of the Big III's panel did not show up.

"We were at Singha Darbar at the scheduled time of 2 pm," Shrestha told THT Online over phone, "But, no one came till 4:30 pm and we returned."

He added that the Big III's panel had not informed them about the postponement.

Acharya said it was uncertain if the meeting would take place today.

"Maybe we will meet this evening, or maybe not," he expressed.

Shrestha, however, ruled out any possibility of the meeting today.
