Iranians here for disaster lessons
Kathmandu, February 3:
A 33-member delegation from Iran has arrived in Kathmandu to study Nepal’s efforts to combat possibility of earthquake-related disasters.
The delegation, consisting of officials from Iran’s Health Ministry, Housing Department, UNDP chief and officials of Engineers’ Association, have come here for learning from Nepal’s achievements in disaster preparedness activities.
The members have started meeting officials from the government offices and NGOs to learn about Nepal’s earthquake technologies, states a press release issued by National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal today.
They have visited Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan City, Banepa Municipality; ward no. 17 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Health Ministry, Department of Housing and other places.
The release added that the delegation would study the earthquake security programmes, masonry training, disaster management training on community level and other organisations’ efforts.
Iran is one of the most earthquake-prone countries of Asia.
