Grant supports digital learning as Nepal-Japan ties mark 70 years

KATHMANDU, MARCH 25

The Government of Japan has signed a grant agreement to modernise Japanese language classrooms at Tribhuvan University, marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan.

Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Maeda Toru, signed the agreement with Amira Dalli, President of Love Green Nepal, for the implementation of the project at the Campus of International Languages. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Deepak Aryal.

Funded under Japan's Grant Assistance for Cultural Grassroots Projects (GCGP), the initiative carries a total grant of USD 64,885 (approximately Rs 9.3 million).

The project aims to upgrade the learning environment by introducing electronic smart boards for interactive teaching, along with classroom renovations and installation of new ergonomic furniture.

The Embassy of Japan said the initiative is expected to enhance the quality of Japanese language education in Nepal and provide students with a more advanced and engaging learning environment.

Officials also expressed hope that the project would further strengthen cultural ties and mutual understanding between Nepal and Japan.
