Japanese grant for language hub

Kathmandu, March 19:
The embassy of Japan has decided to extend a grant of Rs 525,423 to the Pokhara Japanese Language and Culture Centre (PJLCC).
A contract to the effect was signed and exchanged today between Hiroshi Jingu, counsellor, embassy of Japan, and Manoj Bahadur Shrestha, chairman of PJLCC, during a programme held in the Japanese embassy here.
"This would further strengthen the friendly ties between the people of the two countries," counsellor Jingu said and assured such aid will continue in future. Shrestha said such programmes will help cultural exchanges between the two nations. The project was established in 1988 with the financial support of Japanese citizens. Under the project, a total of 1,564 sets of Japanese books will be provided to the centre. The books have been donated by the Rotary Club of Shiba, Japan.
