JEMCL to start printing ballot papers from Feb 21
Bhaktapur, January 18:
The Janak Education Material Centre Limited (JEMCL) is all set to print ballot papers for the upcoming CA polls from February 21.
Ram Chandra Silwal, deputy managing director at the JSSKL, told this daily today that the Election Commission (EC) has verbally ordered to print the ballot papers within 45 days.
He said: “We have already prepared ourselves to print the ballot papers for the CA polls.”
Under the assistance of the USAID, the EC would be importing three machines to print ballot papers which will be in two colours. “Out of three machines, two machines have already been installed at the JSSKL and the remaining one will arrive within a few days,” said Silwal.
A total of 60 employees at the JSSKL would be involved in printing the voting papers meant for the polls as ordered by the EC. Three representatives from the USAID have already provided a special training on printing ballot papers to 20 employees.
Silwal said, “The JSSKL is scheduled to print 18,700,000 ballot papers for proportional election system and around 18,700,000 for the first-past the post election system.”
