Kathmandu, January 6:

Kanti Children’s Hospital, the country’s only children’s hospital, started providing free neo-natal services from today amid its 42 anniversary celebrations inaugurated by King Gyanendra.

The hospital will bear all the medical and clinical expenses from the time neo-natal patients were admitted till they were discharged. “Providing free services to neo-natal patients will help to ease their financial burden,” said Dr Gautam Ratna Bajracharya, the director of KCH.

He said that the patients, who seek medical services from remote parts of the country, had to bear heavy expenses due to which most cases had been deprived of the facility. He said that the hospital had plans to develop into Kanti Children’s Hospital- Institute of Child Health, where teaching and research work could be done.
