Karna seeks written commitment from NC-Maoist for support to govt

KATHMANDU: Sadbhawana Party Co-Chairman Laxman Lal Karna said the protesting Federal Alliance could not extend support to the new government likely to be formed by Nepali Congress-CPN Maoist Centre unless the parties committed to fulfilling the former's demands in writing.

"Unless we get a written commitment to address our demands," Karna told journalists at an interaction in the Capital today, "We will not cast our votes in the Prime Minister's election.

Karna informed that the new alliance had so far assured to fulfill demands of the Federal Alliance, just in words, and the protesting parties were in the wait-and-see mode currently.

"The Congress and the Maoist Centre have come (to us) with a regret," he said, "We will support them if they are serious toward addressing their demands."

"But, we are not for extending support to them unconditionally. There should a written agreement."

He further demanded that top leaders of the coalition – NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN MC Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal – sign the agreement.

Meanwhile, Karna said Madhesi people celebrated unseating of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli yesterday.

The lawmaker also informed that the Federal Alliance was yet to take any decision about joining the new government.
