KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 1
Minister for Drinking Water Mahindra Raya Yadav has stated that construction works have progressed swiftly to supply water to Kathmandu from the Melamchi Drinking Water Project soon.
Minister Yadav, who arrived here on Friday for an onsite visit to the water source at Helambu Ambathan, mentioned that the works are proceeding smoothly to deliver water to Kathmandu, despite encountering some issues in the water source after the flooding.
"The flood caused severe damage to the source. We are working expeditiously to provide water to the people in Kathmandu. We will supply water to Kathmandu soon," said the Minister for Drinking Water.
During the occasion, Minister Yadav added that the entire human resource has been mobilized to realize the government's plan to ensure water supply to Kathmandu and address the issue of the drinking water crisis sustainably.
However, officials mentioned that they cannot determine the timeframe for water supply since they are yet to confirm the losses caused by the flood. "We are working in a war-footing manner. Water supply in Kathmandu could be ensured within a month," said Senior Divisional Engineer Padam Bahadur Kunwar."
