KATHMANDU: The Kirtipur Hospital, where acid attack victim Samjhana Das was receiving treatment, has provided discount on her outstanding bills.

Earlier, Samjhana’s parents could not receive her body for post-mortem due to lack of cash-in-hand for clearing the bills. Despite having received funds for Samjhana’s treatment from several quarters, the unfortunate parents were unable to withdraw cash from banks due to a public holiday today.

The hospital was initially demanding payment in cash to take the procedure forward, denying cheque or any other form of payment.

An outstanding balance of NRs 110,000 was required to be cleared before releasing the body, which has now been discounted.
