Kirtipur school gets new building

Kathmandu, April 28

Nepal Student Union affiliated to the Nepali Congress today handed over a new building to Kirtipur-based Kirtipur Secondary School.

The old building of the school was damaged in the earthquakes last year.

The school building was handed over to SMC by NC leader Prakash Man Singh at a programme organised on the school premises. The earthquake-resistant four-room building was designed by lawmaker and NSU president Ranjit Karna.

The building was constructed at the cost of Rs 250,000.

Singh said it was sad that very little progress was made on the reconstruction front even a year after the earthquakes. He also said that the NC would play the role of a strong opposition for speedy reconstruction.

Govinda Bhattarai, central committee member of NC, appreciated the role played by NSU cadres in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes.

“There’s very little we can expect from the incumbent government. Its inability to expedite reconstruction of infrastructure even a year after the disaster is very sad,” he said.
