KMC to cancel contract with Kathmandu View Tower construction company
KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City is deliberating to cancel the contract with a company engaged to construct Kathmandu View Tower, citing the snail's paced work even after a year of the agreement, which was signed on March 5 last year.
Spokesperson at the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Gyanendra Karki said, “KMC is going to cancel the contract with the Jaleshwor Swochchhanda Bikoi Builders Pvt Ltd, after the construction company failed to submit progress details of the view tower."
The Tower is being constructed at the Old Bus Park in Kathmandu.
“Although the KMC had asked the construction company to submit progress details of the works carried out so far two months ago, neither the company submitted the progress details, nor the contractor has come in contact with the KMC,” added Karki.
Earlier, the City had warned the company to carry out the construction in a regular manner.
As per the agreement, the company was to complete the construction works within two years.
The 12-storey view tower is being constructed at the cost of Rs 3.5 billion.
The initial plan was to build a 29-storeyed building, but a tentative proposal to reduce the number of floors was made after the 2015 Gorkha earthquake.
The tower will spread in an area 23 ropani land and have an underground bus park, a cinema hall, a theatre, a swimming pool, restaurants, banks, and the ward office of Kathmandu Metropolis.
