Kathmandu, April 29:

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City today decided to go ahead with the demolition of the building next to the Pipalbot at New Road to expand Bhugol Park. The park expansion project had earlier suffered a setback after a case was filed against the KMC plan.

"We will start demolishing the building, which houses a branch of Nepal Investment Bank and a dozen of shops, and renovating the park," mayor Keshav Sthapit said at a board meeting.

The KMC has decided to request the government to provide it with the ownership of a land at Sundhara, on which the Mint Department is situated. The KMC today extended for the third time the deadline of the probe committee formed to investigate the irregularities in the KVMP.
