National Assembly member Komal Oli has filed a defamation case against Nepal Communist Party (UML) leader Raghuji Panta at the Kathmandu District Court, on Tuesday.
Oli, In a charge-sheet, accused Panta of deliberate assassinationon of character and has sought action against the UML leader in accordance with Clause 305 (1) and (2) of Criminal Code, 2017, leading to a one-year jail-term and a fine of Rs 10,000 for the use of electronic media for the said defamation.
The NA member further demanded compensation corresponding to the sensitivity of the offense, the damages it caused to her reputationion and the recovery of expenditure for the legal process.
Panta, while speaking at a political programme on February 27, had made a remark on Oli's abilities which made her suitable for the NA, while also making a reference to her body-part. He had later apologised for the remark,
