KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 9

The Koshi Province Assembly conducted theoretical discussions on Thursday regarding a bill aimed at amending the 'Province Civil Service Act, 2079.' Participants in the discussions included Province Assembly Members Uma Kant Gautam, Sapana Darji, Gombu Sherpa, and Smile Mansuri.

During the session, the Assembly Members expressed the view that the new Act should prioritize the career growth of employees, enhance public service delivery effectiveness, and ensure high morale among civil servants. Additionally, lawmakers recommended referring the bill to the thematic committee for further deliberations.

In a question-and-answer session between lawmakers and the Chief Minister, Kedar Karki of Koshi Province acknowledged challenges in managing officials due to the ongoing discussions about the Province Civil Service Act in the Assembly. He pledged to expedite service delivery at the province level following the approval of Koshi Province's budget.

Chief Minister Karki clarified that he has not announced a coalition breakup with the CPN (UML) and urged them not to move to the opposition bench. Furthermore, he assured that the concerns raised by identity advocates would be addressed in alignment with the constitution's spirit and sentiment.

The next province assembly meeting is scheduled for November 21.
