Kukur Tihar being observed across the nation

KATHMANDU: Kukur (dog) Tihar, the second day of the five-day Tihar festival, is being observed across the country on Tuesday.

On the occasion, devotees worship dogs and offer them garland, tika and delicious food.

According to a Hindu myth, the dog is regarded as the guard of Yamaraj, the god of death.

People will worship Goddess Laxmi and their wealth tomorrow wishing for prosperity.

It is believed that worshipping the deity would bring them a blessing for prosperity.

People play Bhailo visiting houses in their neighbours following the puja.

The government has announced a three-day public holiday starting from Laxmi Pooja to Bhai Tika for the festival
