Little Angels, United increase fees sans govt approval

KATHMANDU: Two popular schools in the Capital have been found increasing tuition fees for the new academic session without the government permission.

The Department of Education on Thursday conducted a monitoring of two reputed schools in Lalitpur district, the Little Angels and the United Academy to find that they had hiked the monthly tuition fees by upto 15 per cent compared to the last session.

The LA has increased the monthly tuition fees by eight to 10 per cent while the United Academy raised it by 12-15 per cent compared to the past, according to Guardians Association Nepal Chair Suprabhat Bhandari, who was also in the monitoring team.

The Department started the monitoring of private schools following public complaints that the schools arbitrarily raised the fees, Department's Institution Coordination Section chief Bal Bahadur Karki said.
