Local bodies' poll by mid-April assured, says Minister
KATHMANDU: Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Hitraj Pandey said local bodies' poll by mid-April next year would be certain now as the restructuring models in 62 out of 75 districts had already been finalised.
He said the Local Bodies Restructuring Commission would submit its final report within two weeks so as to ensure polls within next five months.
"So far, reports have arrived from 62 districts," he said, "Preparations are underway at a high speed in other districts also for the same."
"What we should do at the ministry are also being held smoothly," the Minister added.
Speaking in a different context, the CPN Maoist Centre leader said the government led by his party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal would prepare and table a Constitution amendment proposal at the House at the earliest, that too in the consensus of major political parties.
"The Prime Minister has been holding bilateral, trilateral and multilateral meetings and discussions for the same, Pandey said, adding the main opposition CPN-UML would also join hands in the bid.
He also expressed his confidence that the impeachment motion filed against the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Chief Lok Man Singh Karki would be endorsed from the House.
