Losar attracts foreigners

Kathmandu, February 20:

Celebrations on the last day of Losar turned out to be a good platform to showcase Nepali culture to foreigners, as a large number of foreigners joined the celebrations in the Valley today. They participated in typical Bakkhu, the dress of Tibetans and Sherpas. They gathered around Bouddha Stupa from early morning to participate Lapso celebration, the day to worship local deities.

Karoline Studzinska of Poland said that it was her one of the best experiences in life. She added that the Losar celebrations drew her interest in Buddhism and Nepali culture.

Ethiopia’s Ruth Paulos felt to have blessed after participating in the festival. “Curiosity drove me to this celebration,” Paulos said. American national Anna also took part in the celebrations. Her inclination to Sherpa’s tradition brought her to the festival. “I adore Sherpas and Sherpa clothes, as they are warm and caring,” she maintained.
