KATHMANDU, MAY 5

Experts and academic leaders at an international conference in Kathmandu discussed the potential of Madan Bhandari University to meet Nepal's growing demand for technical education. The event, titled "First Step Towards Building a World-Class University," featured leaders from global academic institutions, emphasizing the importance of practical education and industry collaboration.

Richard Miller, Founding President of Olin College of Engineering, stressed the significance of practical education. Bruce Flesner, former Vice President of the American University in Cairo, noted Nepal's strong potential for technical universities. Seeram Ramakrishna, former Deputy Vice President of the National University of Singapore, highlighted the need for investment in research and quality education to boost Nepal's academic growth.

Kenichi Ohashi, former World Bank Nepal Director, called for government policies focused on productivity, while Prof. Dr. Rajendradhwaj Joshi, President of Madan Bhandari University, emphasized research in fields like AI and agriculture. Former Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel recognized the university's role in advancing Nepal's higher education sector.

Similarly, an MoU was signed between the university and Ares Mushroom Farm to enhance research and skill development. Experts also discussed the need for secure data centers and industry-oriented education to support economic growth.

The conference concluded with a panel on global collaboration, underscoring the importance of modern curricula and international partnerships for improving education standards in Nepal.
