Madhesi Alliance holds meeting with NC Prez Koirala

KATHMANDU: Leaders of the Federal Inclusive Madhesi Alliance (FIMA) held a discussion with Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at latter's residence in Maharajgunj of the capital on Tuesday.

The alliance leaders drew the attention of Koirala towards their nine-point demands for the amendment of the Constitution aimed at resolving the ongoing agitations in Tarai.

Tarai Madhes National Campaign coordinator Jay Prakash Prasad Gupta informed that they held discussion with Koirala in this regard.

The alliance leaders have said that the ongoing Tarai-Madhes agitations could not be resolved unless major parties Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist prepared common stance in the issues.

On the occasion, alliance leaders urged Koirala to resolve the problems in package as the constitution amendment proposal registered in the Parliament by previous government was insufficient.

Similarly, the alliance leader Gupta further informed that Koirala assured them to hold discussion in their issues in his party.

The alliance has urged NC to take serious initiations to resolve the ongoing agitations expecting that the main opposition party's initiations might be fruitful.

Tarai Madhes National Campaign, Rastriya Madhes Sadbhawana Party led by Sharat Singh Bhandari, Nepal Sadbhawana Party led by Anil Jha and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Republican are in the alliance.
