Madhyapur Thimi observes first-ever founding day

Madhyapur Thimi, March 27:

Madhyapur Thimi municipality today observed its founding day for the first time since it became a municipality seven years ago. The celebrations began with a cultural rally, which went through the main thoroughfares of the city. The participants clad in traditional attires played traditional musical instruments, sang spiritual songs and performed traditional dances — Mahakali Nach (dance), Indra Apsara Nach, Mayur Nach. The municipality honoured the oldest man and woman, Narayan Shrestha, 107, and Raj Kumari Prajapati, 98. Hari Man Karmacharya and Govinda Bhakta Pradhananga were honoured for their contribution in the field of education. The municipality also honoured various NGOs and INGOs, including the Pahar Nepal, the Thimi Jaycees and the Mahila Utthan Samuha, for their contribution in the development.

The municipality also awarded cash prize of Rs 3,000 each and medals to the football team that was runners-up in "Birendra Memorial Inter-Municipality Football Competition 2060". Former PM Lokendra Bahadur Chand gave letters of appreciation to the distinguished personalities.
