Mahato advised to undergo eye surgery

Kathmandu, February 7

Chair of Sadbhawana Party Rajendra Mahato was advised to undergo surgery for blocked veins in his left eye.

Mahato said he was advised to undergo surgery by eye surgeon Sanduk Ruit to get his vision restored and that he was consulting his family members about it.

Mahato lost vision in his left eye after his blood pressure and sugar level shot up in the aftermath of Biratnagar incident.

Mahato had received head injuries in a clash with police at the Biratnagar-Jogbani border entry point on December 26.

He underwent treatment at Dharan based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences before being admitted to Gurgaon based Medanta Hospital.

He rejoined Madhes agitation from Lahan, Siraha on January 20, when Madhesi parties organised to mark Sacrifice Day.

Mahato said he realised that he had lost vision in his left eye when he went to visit the families of the protesters who were killed by the police in Rangeli and Dainiya recently.

He said said he was told by Doctor Ruit that he would also have to undergo cardiac examinations.
