Major achievements of the House

KATHMANDU: Some  of the major works of the transformed parliament, whose business days numbered  666, were: the first amendment to the constitution, passage of 84 bills including Civil Code Bill, Civil Procedure Code Bill, Criminal Code Bill, Criminal Procedure Code bill,  Local Governments Bill,  Election of House of Representatives Members Bill, Election of President and Vice President Bill,  Education (Ninth Amendment) Bill, National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission Bill and Health Insurance Bill, Inter Government Fiscal Management Bill and National Reconstruction Authority Bill.

This Parliament passed major bills related to implementation of federalism and also elected three prime ministers, a new speaker, deputy speaker, president and vice-president.

The Parliament also passed bills related to Language Commission, Madhesi Commission, National Women Commission and Adivasi Janajati Commission.

The Parliament, however, could not pass 20 bills that were under its consideration, which included the Torture Bill, Medical Education Bill and Election of National Assembly Bill.
