Majority RPP central members confirm support to Lokendra Bahadur Chand as party chair

KATHMANDU: The faction of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), led by former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand, reiterated that it was the authorised committee of the party.

The faction said as many as 53 central members from the existing 99 member-committee have submitted their signatures to the Election Commission, supporting Chand as the party chair, on Sunday.

The party has been divided into two factions and both Chand and Pashupati Shumsher Rana are claiming themselves to be leading authorised committees.

Meanwhile, the Chand-led faction extended its support to the new government led by KP Sharma Oli.

A press statement issued by the party co-spokesperson Kiran Giri said the party would extend 'full support' to the government.

The party has also urged the government to solve the current problem of fuel shortage and address genuine demands of protesting Madhesi parties at the earliest.
