Malpi International wins Maths quiz

Kathmandu, May 29:

The Second National Horlicks Mathematics Quiz 2005 organised by Kathmandu University High School (KUHS) concluded here today. The grand finale took place at St Xavier’s College in Jawalakhel.

Students of class VII-X from different schools across the country participated in the quiz.

Malpi International School bagged the first prize and took away the cash prize of Rs 25,000. The Small Heaven School, Narayangadh and Gorkha International School, Dang walked away with the second and third prizes and won Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. A consolation prize of Rs 5,000 was awarded to Monastic Higher Secondary School, Janakpur.

“After the grand success last year, we continued the contest and the participation from different schools was fabulous this year,” said Narayan Pradhan, the KUHS principal.

Aidan Warlow, director of the School of Fine Art, KUHS, distributed the prizes. The KUHS developed the idea of organising Mathematics quiz to generate more interest in the subject. The quiz also aims to teach applied Mathematics through the contest.
