Man arrested for attempting to murder ex-wife
Bhaktapur, October 6
Police have arrested a man on the charge of attempting to murder his ex-wife, barely an hour after he was released after serving jail term for the same offence earlier.
Narayan Acharya was arrested after he attacked his ex-wife Sabika Twanabasu, a resident of Bhaktapur, with a khukuri near her hardware shop in Kamal Vinayak on Tuesday.
According to SP Kiran Bajracharya, Twanabasu sustained deep injuries to her head, arm and back. She is receiving treatment at B&B hospital, Lalitpur. “I have been told that I may need a few surgeries,” said Twanabasu.
“Acharya had repeatedly tried to kill his wife many times previously. He had only been released from jail an hour before he tried to kill his wife this time,” said Sanita Twanabasu, sister of Sabika.
Sharing her sorrow with THT, Sabika said, “When she was still married to him, my sister was severely tortured and she finally decided to divorce him.”
Sabika today is a single mother with a daughter of 4 years and runs a workshop. “We will file a case against Narayan Acharya for attempted murder. The attacker will be brought to justice after the court reopens after C,” said SP Bajracharya.
