Lalitpur, November 28:

Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, yesterday arrested Shyam Shrestha, on charge of storing sub-standard candies, manufactured by Concept Food Pvt Ltd.

Altogether 27 students of Shramik Shanti Higher Secondary School had fallen ill after eating chocolates yesterday. “We arrested Shrestha, as he is learnt to have stored and given the candies to Shushila Koirala,” said Madhav Nepal, Superintendent of Police at the police station. Koirala denies having distributed candies among students, Nepal said.

Along with the 42 sacks of candies, the police sent Shrestha to the district branch under the department of food technology and quality control. “Fact will emerge after the food office comes up with laboratory findings,” Nepal said.
